Montgomery Botanical hosted a joint meeting of the South Florida Palm Society and the Central Florida Palm and Cycad Society on April 4 — over 40 members participated. The meeting centered on a volunteer effort to plant a population of Roystonea oleracea. These palms are the direct result of fieldwork in Trinidad and Tobago in 2007 which was generously funded by the South Florida Palm Society.
Montgomery Botanical Center enjoys a good relationship with both Palm Societies throughout the state. The South Florida Palm Society, the Central Florida Palm and Cycad Society, and Montgomery Botanical Center all have the conservation and appreciation of Palms as central aspects of their missions.
